These beds are also known as Twin beds since more than one can easily take up the space required for one Double or Queen size bed, and so frequently two or more will be used in a single room at the same time. The standard size for a Single bed is 39” wide x 80” long. Some are made with an extra 5” in length and these are good for the taller young adult. Finding a good single headboard is a matter of your own taste and what will go well with the style of the rest of the room.

How do you know you need a single headboard and bed?

If you are measuring a space for a younger person’s room and find there is not enough room for a Queen or Double Size then a Single might be a good idea. Just because you are short of space, does not mean you have to be short of style, though, because the single headboard can be used to create the central attention the bed needs to have in the room. Taking into account the other furniture in the room, the color scheme of most of the room’s elements and the taste of the person who will be occupying the room the space can result in a room that is truly inventive and attractive.

How to measure for a single headboard

First, find out how much room there is for the headboard itself. Looking at the wall nearest to where the bed will be placed, find the halfway point between the ceiling and the floor. The headboard should be a few inches below this space, so measure this, unless you deliberately want it to be higher than most headboards. With a Single bed having a long, narrow single headboard will not usually make the ceiling appear lower, or the room crowded. Should there be any doubts about such a design, try finding something about the same height and placing it against the wall in question try to imagine the effect this way.

What kind of a single headboard can you find?

There are many different kinds of single headboards for Single beds available. Some very inventive ideas are connecting two Single beds with one bookcase headboard unit. This leaves space under the headboard, and can work well if the beds are flush against wall. Another idea that connects two beds into a unit is have matching headboards with identical paneling or matching motifs like puzzle pieces, which would work well in a young person’s room. As with most beds it is often just a matter of shopping around and finding a good fit in terms of both taste and what will actually fit in the space available.
