Fabric Headboards for Beds
For some the bedroom needs to be a sanctuary, a sort of quiet and calm oasis where they can recharge their batteries, and relax. To set this kind of mood the bedroom needs to have the proper colors, furnishings and the centerpiece of the room—the bed—must be restful. The reverie of a peaceful mood should not be shaken by metal or hard wood. The headboard for a bed in such a space should exude softness. Getting a fabric headboard of all sizes are great as a soft touch from a huge master bedroom to a small dorm space. As an added benefit they can come in almost any color so matching the headboard to other furnishings and styles is not difficult.
Using a wraparound style for fabric headboards for beds
In a young person’s room or in a room without much space, this type of headboard gives an almost protective element to the bed. With another type of material this headboard would seem oppressive, but fabric just does not dominate places in that way. The fabric is soft to the hand and to the eye and as the headboard wraps around the front part of the bed it gives the sleeper a secure feeling. This is a great effect since it does not take away from the bed’s use of the space, and the room will not look cluttered or crowded by the bed. If this is a younger person’s room then fun colors like orange, purple, lime green or a lemony yellow can be used.
Using a plain style for a fabric headboard for beds
For a more reserved look, a straight headboard flush to the bed can be used. A conservative look does not have to mean totally without decoration through and buttons or pleating can be used. The fabric can also be a match to other fabric furniture in the room. For a very sedate look that is conducive to sleeping, colors like ivory, white, cream, pale greens, or blues should be used. The size of this type of headboard should not be overwhelming. Measure beforehand and look for one that hits a few inches below the mid-point of the nearest wall. Do not place this type of bed too close to a wall since the hardness of the wall’s surface will negate the effect the softness the headboard’s fabric brings to the room.
Using a heavier style for a fabric headboards for beds
Just because fabric is being used does not mean that it has to be light and airy all the time. Darker heavier fabric can be used instead if the headboard will be needed someplace where a thinner material will not work. In a master bedroom, a heavy deep blue with a thicker material will convey a sense of confidence in tge room. The only complication here is remembering to match the furnishings with the headboard and bed coverings or accessories with the room highlights.
